What is the difference between microblading and digital microblading?

Microblading- The manual way of applying permanent eyebrows

Microblading is done with a manual tool, that is not connected to a power source.  There are a series of needles in the form of a blade at the end of the hand tool.  The manual tool is used to make tiny hair like cuts to the skin and then a mask of pigment is applied.  The pigment sinks into the tiny cuts to create the look of hair. Since all the cuts are open, any pigment applied will go into all the cuts, making them all the same color.  Many people choose microblading as their first permanent eyebrow procedure because of its ability to create extremely thin hair strokes with your natural skin as the background color.  As time goes on and the body metabolizes the pigment, those hair strokes will start to blur, and less of the natural skin will show. This is when the digital microblading or other permanent makeup techniques become a better choice, so it is imperative that an artist have knowledge of all aspects of cosmetic eyebrow tattooing.  Manual microblading is a bit more traumatic than other permanent eyebrow techniques, therefore it is only suggested for healthy skin. If you have a skin condition such as excema, psoriasis, excessive oiliness, manual microblading may not be suitable for you.

Digital Microblading- New to the Permanent Makeup Industry, but we perfected it over 10 years ago!

Digital Microblading is done with a Digital Machine.  Like the manual tool, there are a series of needles in the form of a blade, but the needles are on the end of a hand tool that gently vibrates up and down.  This process creates tiny hair strokes of color instantly, rather than waiting for the pigment to sink in. This process is less traumatic because it does not cut the skin, it rather pushes the pigment gently into the skin, allowing more than one color to be applied at the same time.  This treatment can create 3D Hairstrokes while filling in the brows with color completely if desired. Digital microblading heals faster than manual microblading and is suitable for most skin types.

Powder fill Brows- Powder fill Brows are perfect for people who want a completely filled in brow, without the look of hairstrokes.  Powder fill brows give the illusion that you have filled your brows in with a Brow Powder, without the fuss of applying it daily.  Powder fill Brows are suitable for all skin types.

Ombre Brows- Ombre Brows have a soft beginning and become more solid and filled in toward the tail end.  The beginning is done with hairstrokes or a soft powder look, and the ends are more intense.

Combination Brows- Combination Brows combine multiple permanent makeup and microblading techniques into one treatment!  If one half of the brow is totally missing, but the other half has lots of hair, we may need to use different techniques to achieve the best look. Your artist will help you decide if one or multiple techniques will give you the result you are looking for.

Male Brows- Permanent Eyebrows are not just for women.  Sparse or missing brow hair, a poorly defined shape, or scars in the brows are some of the reasons why men decide to have permanent eyebrows applied.  Since Permanent Makeup is under the skin, unlike regular makeup that is on top the skin, the result is more natural looking.

Brows Before or After Chemotherapy- Unfortunately, Chemotherapy can cause patients to lose their hair, and this often includes their brows and lashes.  Wigs can help with your hair, but it can be very difficult to apply makeup to the brows and lashline with no brow hair or lashes to guide you.  Having permanent makeup applied to your brows and lashline before your chemotherapy treatments start can help you to feel more confident. It is important to consult with your physician to make sure it is safe to have permanent makeup before your chemotherapy starts.  It is usually not advised to have permanent makeup applied if you have already begun your chemotherapy treatments. If you are in need of Permanent Eyebrows before your chemotherapy starts, please call us so that we can try to accommodate you as soon as possible.
